Cochin International (COK) to Munnar, about 110 to 120 km up into the Western Ghats, with a named chauffeur, your flight tracked and a full quote before you pay.
Nothing is charged until you accept the quote.
At a glance
Munnar has no airport, and Cochin International is the nearest one, about 110 to 120 km away by road. The drive commonly takes three to four hours: first across the lowlands to Kothamangalam, then NH 85 over the Periyar at Neriamangalam and up through Adimali to a town about 1,600 m above sea level. Universal Airport Transfer quotes the run as one point-to-point transfer, priced on the route and your address in the hills; your flight is tracked, your chauffeur is named before pickup, and nothing is charged until you accept the quote.
Price
Every journey is quoted on its own rather than sold from a price list, so the figure you receive is for your booking. These are the things that move it. Nothing is charged until you accept the quote. Tolls, where they apply, are either included in it or shown in it as an additional charge, and heavy traffic does not change the quoted price.
The journey
The bridge at Neriamangalam is popularly called the gateway to the high ranges, and Munnar is still about 60 km beyond it. Here is the whole run, from the arrivals hall to the hills.
Put your flight number and terminal in the request. The flight is tracked, so an early or late arrival moves the pickup with it rather than leaving it pinned to the timetable.
The chauffeur’s name and contact details reach you before pickup, by WhatsApp or by email, and the booking desk tells you where to meet. Standard pickup is at the kerb outside arrivals; with Meet and greet, included with every First Class booking, a name board waits for you in arrivals.
The usual line runs east through Perumbavoor and then along the Aluva to Munnar road to Kothamangalam, keeping clear of Kochi city. At Kothamangalam it becomes NH 85, the Kochi to Dhanushkodi highway, for the rest of the way.
At Neriamangalam the highway crosses the Periyar into Idukki district on a narrow arch bridge opened in 1935, long a pinch point. A wider bridge beside it was in its final stages at the end of September 2026, and the local MP said it would open by mid-October. Further on, the Cheeyappara and Valara falls are beside the road before Adimali.
From Adimali, at about 650 m, it is about 31 km more, past Pallivasal, to Munnar town. The road winds as it climbs, and a slow climb behind traffic does not change the quoted price.
Arriving late in the rains, from June to November? You can split the trip: a night near the airport, then the climb in daylight next morning, booked from the hotel as its own point-to-point run. Say which you prefer when you send the request.
In and around Munnar
Munnar town sits where three mountain streams meet, and the hill station spreads well beyond it into tea estates and valleys. The distances below are Kerala Tourism’s figures, measured from the town.
At about 1,600 m, where the Muthirapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala streams meet; the name means three rivers in Malayalam. The highway from Adimali comes in through Pallivasal.
Pallivasal, about 8 km from the town, is on the way in and home to the state’s first hydro-electric project. Chithirapuram, about 10 km out and one of the region’s main tea centres, has its own road from Adimali, so say which of the two you are booked into.
A hilltop of tea, coffee and cardamom plantations about 6 km from the town, looking out over the valleys.
Mattupetty’s dam and lake are a 13 km drive from the town, at about 1,700 m, and Kundala is about 20 km out. Both reservoirs offer boating.
About 22 km from the town, among tea estates beside a small reservoir. A stay out here makes the drive from the airport noticeably longer.
Around 40 km from Munnar, on the rain-shadow side of the hills, known for its natural sandalwood forest and prehistoric dolmens. Send the exact address, because it lies well beyond the town.
Home of the Nilgiri tahr, about 13 km from the town, and closed to visitors early each year for the tahr’s calving season: in 2026 from 1 February to 31 March. Check the park’s dates before you plan a visit. A day of stops like this suits a car held by the hour.
COK
Cochin International lies at Nedumbassery, between NH 544 and the MC Road, on the inland side of Kochi. For Munnar that is a head start: the car heads for Perumbavoor instead of south into the city. Send your flight number with the request, because an airport transfer cannot be quoted without it.
Terminals Flights from abroad come into Terminal 3, and domestic ones into Terminal 1. Check which one is printed on your ticket and put it in the request.

Questions
By road. Munnar has no airport or railway station of its own, and Kerala Tourism names Ernakulam Junction, about 120 km away, as the nearest railhead. From the terminal that leaves a bus, by way of a bus station such as Aluva, or a car: a pre-booked one meets you at the kerb, or with a name board if you book Meet and greet, and takes you to the door of your hotel or homestay.
About 110 to 120 km by road, depending on the line taken and where in Munnar you are going. The usual route runs east through Perumbavoor and Kothamangalam, then climbs on NH 85 through Neriamangalam and Adimali.
Commonly about three to four hours; Kerala Tourism puts it at about three hours and seven minutes. Rain on the ghat section and slow traffic on the climb can both lengthen it, so for a flight out of Kochi leave generous time.
Kerala Tourism says buses run to Munnar from almost all of the state’s major bus stations, so one way is to get to one of those, such as Aluva, and change there. That is simpler with light bags than with a family’s luggage after a long flight. A pre-booked car goes from the terminal to your door instead, with a full quote before you pay.
In heavy rain it may not be allowed at all. Under an orange alert the Idukki district collector can stop travel in the district’s hilly areas overnight, as happened from 7pm to 6am in June 2026, and landslips have closed stretches of NH 85 for days at a time. If you arrive late in the rains, check the current district advisories and tell the booking desk when you send the request; a night near the airport and a morning drive is one way round it.
Cheeyappara, which falls in seven steps, and Valara are both beside NH 85 between Neriamangalam and Adimali. If you want a stop, ask for it when you request the quote: an extra stop is one of the extras, so it is reflected in the price you accept.
Each journey is quoted on its own. A long run like this is quoted as a single point-to-point transfer, priced on the route and the destination, and the full quote reaches you usually within two hours, with any late-night, public holiday or short-notice charge in it. Nothing is charged until you accept.
Yes. The pickup at your hotel or homestay is timed back from your check-in cut-off, with the hill road and the terminal drop-off allowed for, and the chauffeur waits 15 minutes from the scheduled pickup time. For a night or early-morning flight in the rains, check the Idukki advisories before you settle the pickup time.
Yes. Cochin International is about 110 km away, while Coimbatore and Madurai, across the state border in Tamil Nadu, are both about 165 km. Any commercial airport can be quoted, so if your flight goes into one of those, send it with the request.
