Al Maktoum airport transfer DWC, pre-booked.

Al Maktoum International (DWC) sits at Jebel Ali, about 37 kilometres south-west of central Dubai — a genuinely different journey from Dubai International, and one most arrival guides ignore. Universal Airport Transfer books it ahead with a named chauffeur and your flight tracked, quoted in full before you pay.

At a glance

What you get with a DWC transfer

  • About 37 kilometres south-west of central Dubai, at Jebel Ali in Dubai South.
  • Closer to the Marina and Jebel Ali end of the city than Dubai International is, and considerably further from Deira and the creek.
  • Your chauffeur waits 30 minutes from your flight’s actual arrival time.
  • A full quote before you pay, usually within two hours, with tolls and any late-night, public holiday or short-notice charges in it.
  • Pay online by secure payment link or bank transfer; the price is fixed once you pay.
  • Fewer taxis wait here than at Dubai International, which is the practical reason to book ahead.

Price

What your quote depends on

Every journey is quoted on its own rather than sold from a price list, so the figure you receive is for your booking and not an estimate that changes later. These are the things that move it — and once you accept the quote and pay, the price is fixed.

The distance to your address DWC is about 37 km south-west of central Dubai, so where you are going matters more here than at DXB.
Which end of the city Jebel Ali and the Marina are close by. Deira and the creek are a long way across town.
The hour you land Late-night, public holiday and short-notice arrivals can carry a charge, named in the quote.

When you land

Landing at Al Maktoum

A quieter airport than Dubai International, and a longer way from most of the city. Both of those change how you should plan the arrival.

01

Before you land

Your flight is tracked. A chauffeur is assigned to your booking and timed to your actual landing, so a delayed flight moves the pickup instead of wasting it.

02

Passport control

DWC handles far fewer passengers than Dubai International, so the halls are quieter and the queues are usually shorter — one of the real advantages of flying into it.

03

Baggage and customs

Your 30 minutes of waiting runs from the moment the flight lands. If you are held up, message the booking desk: it answers 24 hours a day, and your chauffeur is told.

04

Meeting your chauffeur

Your confirmation voucher carries the chauffeur’s name, the vehicle and the meeting point. This matters more here than at DXB: fewer cars wait at Al Maktoum, and an unbooked arrival can be a long wait at the kerb.

05

The drive in

About 37 kilometres to central Dubai, and the road runs back up past Jebel Ali. The price was fixed when you paid, so the distance is already accounted for.

How DWC differs from Dubai International

Where it is Jebel Ali, roughly 37 kilometres south-west of central Dubai, at the heart of the Dubai South development — the opposite end of the city from Dubai International.
Who flies here A smaller set of carriers than DXB. Airlines using Al Maktoum have included flydubai on selected routes, Jazeera Airways, Gulf Air and a number of European and regional charter operators. Check your ticket: the airport code is DWC, not DXB.
Cargo and what is coming Al Maktoum is a major cargo airport as well as a passenger one, and is being expanded over the next decade to take the bulk of Dubai’s air traffic. A second runway is due by the end of 2027.

The single most common mistake is booking a transfer to the wrong Dubai airport. DWC and DXB are about an hour apart in traffic — check the three-letter code on your ticket before you travel.

DWC

Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC)

Al Maktoum International, still widely called Dubai World Central, is Dubai’s second airport and the centrepiece of the Dubai South development. It is a different journey from Dubai International in every way that matters to a transfer: a different side of the city, a different set of airlines, and a different drive.

DXB

Dubai International Airport (DXB)

Connecting between the two Dubai airports is not a terminal change — they are on opposite sides of the city and the move is a proper journey, booked as an airport-to-airport transfer.

Questions

Al Maktoum (DWC) transfer questions

Where is Al Maktoum International Airport?

At Jebel Ali, roughly 37 kilometres south-west of central Dubai, at the centre of the Dubai South development. It is the opposite end of the city from Dubai International.

Is DWC the same as Dubai World Central?

Yes. Al Maktoum International is the airport’s name and DWC is its code; Dubai World Central is the development it sits in, and the two names are used interchangeably for the airport.

Which airlines fly to Al Maktoum?

A smaller set than Dubai International. Carriers using DWC have included flydubai on selected routes, Jazeera Airways, Gulf Air and a number of European and regional charter operators. Routes change, so check the airport code on your own ticket.

How do I get from Al Maktoum to Dubai International?

They are on opposite sides of the city, so it is a full journey rather than a terminal change — about an hour in traffic. It is booked as an airport-to-airport transfer and quoted on the same terms.

Why should I book a transfer at DWC rather than find a taxi?

Al Maktoum is far quieter than Dubai International, which is pleasant inside the terminal and less so at the kerb: fewer cars wait here. A pre-booked chauffeur is assigned before you land.

What happens if my flight is delayed?

Nothing on your side. The flight is tracked, so the pickup moves with it and the 30-minute wait starts from the time you actually land.

Waiting time, changes, cancellations and refunds are set out in full in our Terms & Conditions.
