If you are one of the passengers heading into the city, we arrange a private transfer with a named chauffeur who tracks your flight and waits 30 minutes from its actual arrival time. You get a full quote before you pay, usually within two hours, and the price is fixed once you have paid.

What your quote depends on
Every journey is quoted on its own rather than sold from a price list, so the figure you receive is for your booking and not an estimate that changes later. These are the things that move it. Once you accept the quote and pay, the price is fixed.
Where in Doha you are going
Msheireb and Souq Waqif are the closest central districts to the airport. West Bay and the Corniche are a little further, and The Pearl and Lusail further still to the north. A run south to Al Wakrah, or out of the city altogether, is quoted on its own distance.
When you land and when you book
Late-night landings, public holidays and bookings made at short notice can each add a charge. August is one of the airport's busiest arrival periods, so it pays to book well ahead. The quote lists every charge that applies before you pay.
Vehicle class and luggage
There are four classes, from sedan to van. Families coming back at the end of the summer holidays with a season's luggage and strollers usually need more room than the number of passengers suggests.
One way, return or a layover in the city
Most passengers at Hamad are changing planes. If you are stepping out during a long connection, an hourly chauffeur or a return journey to the terminal is quoted differently from a one-way transfer.

Before you land
Check Qatar's entry rules on the Visit Qatar visa page or the Hayya platform. Your passport must be valid for at least three months from the day you arrive. Send us your flight number: we track the flight, and your chauffeur's 30-minute wait starts from its actual arrival time. If you arrive at Concourse D or E, or your aircraft parks at a remote stand and you are taken to the terminal by bus, allow extra time before immigration.

Immigration at Hamad
Follow the Arrivals signs rather than the crowd, because many people off your flight will be connecting. There are 36 e-gates on the left as you approach passport control. They are open to Qatar residents, GCC citizens and holders of visas issued by the Qatar Visa Centres in India, Pakistan, the Philippines, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka, as long as their biometrics are already on record. First-time visitors give their biometrics at a counter. The counters accept visa fees by card only, so if you want to pay in cash, go to the bank counter before you queue.

Baggage
The airport says all bags, oversized items included, come out on your flight's assigned belt. The Baggage Services Office in the Arrivals Hall handles anything that is missing or damaged. If a baggage claim will keep you beyond the 30-minute wait, contact our 24-hour booking desk. Waiting beyond 30 minutes can carry an additional charge.

Meeting your chauffeur
Your voucher, sent 24 hours before pickup, gives your chauffeur’s name and the vehicle, so follow the voucher. The Taxi Pavilion at the left end of the Arrivals Hall, the bus pavilion on the right and the ride-hailing pick-up in the car park are separate services. The airport asks passengers to take taxis only from the pavilion.

On the way
Hamad is roughly 15 km from central Doha. Published guides put Msheireb and Souq Waqif at around 15 to 20 minutes by road, West Bay and the Corniche at 20 to 30, and The Pearl or Lusail at 30 to 40, all depending on traffic. From May to September, average daytime highs in Doha pass 38°C and often approach 45°C. Plan for that if you are travelling with young children or older relatives.

One terminal, five concourses
All passenger flights use Terminal 1, which has concourses A to E. D and E opened in March 2025, and the airport runs free buggies from them to near the arrivals immigration escalators when seats are available.
A transfer airport first
Of the 54.3 million passengers Hamad handled in 2025, 13.5 million started or finished their journey in Doha. On most flights, many of the people around you are heading for a connection, not the exit.
Metro in the building
The Red Line starts at Hamad International Airport T1 station, a short indoor walk from the Arrivals Hall, and runs into the city through Msheireb. It does not run on Friday mornings and is not a 24-hour service.
August is the peak
The third quarter is Hamad's busiest. In August 2025 the airport handled more than 5 million passengers in a single month for the first time, as families and students returned from summer travel.

Hamad International Airport (DOH)
Hamad opened in 2014 east of central Doha, on a site that is half reclaimed land, and took over all scheduled flights from the old Doha International Airport. It is the hub for Qatar Airways, and most people passing through are changing planes, so arriving passengers should follow the Arrivals signs rather than the crowd. From Concourses D and E the airport runs a complimentary buggy, subject to seat availability, to near the arrivals immigration escalators.
Terminals Hamad has a single passenger terminal, Terminal 1, with five concourses lettered A to E. Concourses D and E opened in March 2025. Tell us your flight number when you ask for a quote.

Doha airport transfer questions
How long will my chauffeur wait at Hamad?
Your chauffeur waits 30 minutes from your flight's actual arrival time, not the scheduled time. Waiting beyond that can carry an additional charge, and a passenger who cannot be reached counts as a no-show. At Hamad, a first visit through the passport counters, a remote stand or the long walk from Concourse D or E can all use up that time, so keep your phone on once you land.
What happens if my flight into Doha is delayed?
We track your flight, and the 30-minute wait starts from its actual arrival time. If you are moved to a different flight, for example after a missed connection elsewhere, tell our booking desk as soon as you know. It answers 24 hours a day. Our terms allow changes up to 48 hours before the flight, so a change after that cannot be promised.
Is Hamad the only airport in Doha?
For scheduled flights, yes. All scheduled commercial flights moved from the old Doha International Airport to Hamad on 27 May 2014. The old airport, a few kilometres to the west, is still used for state flights and some private aviation.
I have a long layover in Doha. Can you take me into the city and back?
Yes. An hourly chauffeur or a return journey covers it, and we quote it in full before you pay. You will have to clear immigration, so first check on the Visit Qatar visa page whether your nationality can enter Qatar. The Red Line metro is a public transport option, but it does not run on Friday mornings.
Can I pay my Qatar visa fee in cash at the airport?
The airport says its immigration counters accept visa fees by card only. To pay in cash, go to the designated bank counter before you join the passport queue. A processing fee applies there.
Would the metro or a taxi be simpler?
Sometimes. The Red Line leaves from the airport's own station, a short indoor walk from the Arrivals Hall, and runs through Msheireb towards West Bay and Lusail, though not on Friday mornings or through the night. Official taxis leave from the Taxi Pavilion. A pre-booked transfer suits you better if you have heavy luggage, a family with you, a late-night landing or a destination away from the metro.
