Every journey is quoted on its own rather than sold from a price list, so the figure you receive is for your booking and not an estimate that changes later. These are the things that move it. Once you accept the quote and pay, the price is fixed.
Which airport, and which side of the Hudson
Newark is in New Jersey, so a trip into Manhattan crosses the Hudson River, by tunnel or bridge, such as the Holland or Lincoln Tunnel. Tunnels such as the Holland charge in the New York-bound direction. From JFK the route runs through Queens instead. Whatever tolls sit on your route are itemised in the quote.
Whether you are going below 61st Street
Since 5 January 2025, vehicles entering Manhattan south of 61st Street pay a congestion toll. Vehicles that stay on FDR Drive or the West Side Highway are exempt. If your address is inside the zone, the charge is in your quote before you pay.
The hour you land
Manhattan's congestion toll is not the same for every vehicle: private cars pay a daytime rate from 5am to 9pm on weekdays and 9am to 9pm at weekends and a reduced rate overnight, while taxis and for-hire black cars pay a flat charge per trip. Separately, a late-night landing or a public holiday can carry our own surcharge. Whatever applies shows up in the quote.
Manhattan or further afield
Not every trip from these airports ends in Manhattan. Newark Liberty straddles the New Jersey cities of Newark and Elizabeth, and JFK is on Jamaica Bay at the edge of Long Island. Trips to New Jersey, Brooklyn or Long Island are quoted individually for the vehicle class you choose, from sedan to van, with any tolls on the route included.

Before you land
Send us your flight number when you book. Your chauffeur tracks the flight, and the 30-minute wait starts from your flight’s actual arrival time, not the scheduled time. Your voucher, sent 24 hours before pickup, gives your chauffeur’s name and the vehicle. Turn your phone on as soon as you land, because a passenger we cannot reach is treated as a no-show.

US immigration
JFK and Newark both accept US Customs and Border Protection's Mobile Passport Control app. It is open to US citizens, lawful permanent residents, Canadian B1/B2 visitors and returning Visa Waiver Program travellers with an approved ESTA.

Baggage and customs
Your 30-minute wait may have started while you were in the immigration queue. If you are held up at passport control or the baggage belt, message the booking desk. Waiting beyond 30 minutes can carry an additional charge.

Meeting your chauffeur
At JFK, the Port Authority keeps terminal kerbs for active pick-ups and drop-offs only, with no parking in front of any terminal, and it tows unattended vehicles. Follow the details the booking desk confirms for your pickup.

On the way
NYC Tourism puts a taxi to Midtown at about 40 to 60 minutes from JFK, and well over an hour at busy times, and 45 to 60 minutes from Newark, depending on traffic, road conditions and weather. The main road out of JFK is the Van Wyck Expressway (I-678), which New York State is widening between the airport and the Kew Gardens Interchange. From Newark, the New Jersey Turnpike Extension gives a direct highway link to the Holland Tunnel.
The terminals
JFK: five terminals open
The airport's terminal guide lists Terminals 1, 4, 5, 7 and 8. Delta's hub is Terminal 4, JetBlue is based at Terminal 5 and American runs Terminal 8. Airlines move as new terminals open, so check your terminal close to your travel date.
JFK: what is being built
Terminal 2 was demolished in 2023 to make way for a New Terminal One. In September 2026 its opening was reported to have slipped to early 2027. A new Terminal 6 is being built on the former Terminal 6 site and will expand onto the Terminal 7 site once Terminal 7 closes; the Port Authority says it will integrate with Terminal 5.
Newark: Terminals A, B and C
The rebuilt Terminal A opened in December 2022 and serves Air Canada, American, Delta, JetBlue and United. Terminal B serves a mix of carriers, including Lufthansa, SAS, Alaska and Frontier. United operates Terminal C.
Newark: the AirTrain
The monorail runs between Terminals B and C and Newark Liberty International Airport Station for NJ Transit and Amtrak. It does not connect directly to Terminal A: the airport says that is a 15-minute walk on a covered pathway or a five-minute shuttle ride. Between 11pm and 5am, trains call at Terminals B and C every 15 minutes, and a shuttle runs to Terminal A. Shuttle buses also stand in whenever construction stops the trains.

Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR)
Newark Liberty is in New Jersey, not New York: it straddles the cities of Newark and Elizabeth, about 16 miles from Midtown Manhattan on the far side of the Hudson. It is United's largest hub by available seat miles, and its AirTrain monorail links Terminals B and C with a rail station served by NJ Transit and Amtrak; the airport says Terminal A is a 15-minute covered walk or a five-minute shuttle ride from the AirTrain. The AirTrain is being replaced, and the Port Authority warns of temporary disruptions, with shuttle buses running when trains are not.

How long will my chauffeur wait at JFK or Newark?
30 minutes from your flight's actual arrival time. We track the flight, so an early or late landing moves the wait with it. US immigration queues can eat into that time, so turn your phone on when you land and message the booking desk if you are held up. Waiting beyond 30 minutes can carry an additional charge, and a passenger we cannot reach is treated as a no-show.
What happens if my flight is delayed?
Nothing changes on your side. The chauffeur tracks the flight, and the 30-minute wait starts from your flight’s actual arrival time, not the scheduled time. Delays do happen at both airports. For example, Newark's runway 4L-22R is being rehabilitated in 2026, with periodic closures on weekday nights, so tracking the actual landing time matters.
Is Newark really a New York airport?
It serves New York, but it is in New Jersey, straddling the cities of Newark and Elizabeth about 16 miles from Midtown Manhattan. The road into Manhattan crosses the Hudson, by tunnel or bridge, such as the Holland or Lincoln Tunnel, and tunnels such as the Holland charge in the New York-bound direction. Any tolls on your route are itemised in your quote.
Does Manhattan's congestion toll affect my transfer?
It can. Since 5 January 2025, vehicles entering Manhattan south of 61st Street pay a congestion toll; private cars pay less overnight, while taxis and for-hire black cars pay a flat charge per trip. Should I take the AirTrain instead?
It is a real option. AirTrain JFK runs 24 hours a day to Jamaica, for the Long Island Rail Road and the E, J and Z subway lines, and to Howard Beach for the A train. The airport says the Long Island Rail Road takes about 20 minutes between Jamaica and Penn Station or Grand Central Madison. From Newark, the AirTrain and NJ Transit reach Midtown in about an hour, according to NYC Tourism. A private transfer is simpler if you have heavy luggage, travel with children, land late at night or are going somewhere far from a station.
Can you take me between JFK and Newark, or between JFK terminals?
