Amsterdam · AMS

Amsterdam airport transfer pre-booked and private.

Schiphol is a single terminal: three departure halls, numbered arrival halls and Schiphol Plaza at the centre, with the railway station directly beneath it. The train reaches Amsterdam Centraal quickly, but many Amsterdam addresses lie on narrow 17th-century streets inside the A10 ring, roughly 20 km from the airport by road. We arrange a pre-booked private car with a named chauffeur who tracks your flight and waits 30 minutes from its actual arrival time. You receive a full quote before you pay, and your chauffeur’s name and the vehicle 24 hours before pickup.

Price

What your quote depends on

Every journey is quoted on its own rather than sold from a price list, so the figure you receive is for your booking and not an estimate that changes later. These are the things that move it. Once you accept the quote and pay, the price is fixed.

Where inside Amsterdam you are going Amsterdam's 17th-century streets were not designed for cars, central districts are shared with trams and cyclists, and the city says 80% of its roads are limited to 30 km/h. Give us the exact address, not just 'Amsterdam', so the quote reflects the real journey.
Traffic on the A4 and A10, and late arrivals The road route runs on the A4 and the A10 ring road. Express lanes were added to the A4 near Schiphol to relieve rush-hour traffic, and published estimates put the drive into the centre at roughly 25 to 45 minutes depending on traffic. If you land late at night, any late-night charge is included in your quote before you pay.
King's Day and public holidays On King's Day (27 April, or the 26th when the 27th falls on a Sunday), the city's guidance is that the entire centre is closed to cars from 07:30, and most restrictions lift only late that night. It is a national holiday. Any public holiday charge appears in your quote before you pay.
Amsterdam, or further afield Schiphol is a national rail hub with direct trains to Utrecht, Leiden, The Hague, Delft and Rotterdam. If you are heading beyond the city, give us the exact address and the vehicle class you need, and the quote is for that journey.

When you land

Landing at Schiphol

Everything at Schiphol runs through one terminal, but the queue you join and the arrival hall you walk out of depend on where you have flown from and which passport you hold.

  1. 01

    Before you fly

Look up your flight on schiphol.nl or in the Schiphol app. Each arriving flight's page shows its arrival hall, baggage belt and an estimated exit time, and flags when the airport expects a peak. Keep your voucher to hand: it arrives 24 hours before pickup with your chauffeur’s name and the vehicle.

  2. 02

    Passport control

Arrivals from Schengen countries skip it. From elsewhere, non-EU passport holders follow the signs to an Entry/Exit System kiosk or a Royal Netherlands Marechaussee desk; EES registration has been mandatory since 10 April 2026, and waits of one to two hours were reported in August 2026.

  3. 03

    Baggage and customs

Your belt number is on the flight page, which also shows when the first bags reach it. After customs, signs lead to your arrival hall and on into Schiphol Plaza, where the station, bus stops and official taxi rank are signposted.

  4. 04

    Meeting your chauffeur

Your chauffeur tracks your flight and waits 30 minutes from its actual arrival time. If the passport queue is long, contact the booking desk, which answers 24 hours a day. Waiting beyond 30 minutes can carry an additional charge, and a passenger who cannot be reached is treated as a no-show.

  5. 05

    On the way

Central Amsterdam is roughly 20 km by road via the A4 and the A10 ring road, and published estimates put the drive at around 25 to 45 minutes depending on traffic. The city says 80% of Amsterdam's roads are limited to 30 km/h, and central streets are shared with trams and cyclists, so the last stretch to a canal-side address can be slow.

Schiphol at a glance

One terminal, three departure halls Departure halls 1, 2 and 3 are connected airside, with piers radiating from Schiphol Plaza. A new Pier A with eight gates is expected to open in April 2027.
Schengen and non-Schengen piers Piers B, C and M handle Schengen flights; E, F, G and H mainly non-Schengen; Pier D handles both on separate passenger levels.
Train beneath the terminal Schiphol Airport station is directly under the terminal. Trains run to Amsterdam Centraal eight times an hour in about 14 to 17 minutes, and the airport has rail links to Amsterdam, Utrecht, Leiden, The Hague, Delft and Rotterdam around the clock.
Bus, taxi and pick-up parking Bus 397 leaves stop B17 outside Schiphol Plaza every 10 minutes for Museumplein and Leidseplein, with the N97 hourly at night. The official taxi rank is in front of Schiphol Plaza, and P1 pick-up parking is a few minutes' walk from the arrival halls.

Schiphol and the city both advise against accepting rides from people who approach you unasked in the terminal. With a pre-booked transfer, the only person you are looking for is the chauffeur named on your voucher.

AMS

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS)

Schiphol lies 9 km south-west of Amsterdam, in the municipality of Haarlemmermeer; it handled 68.8 million passengers in 2025, more than a third of them transferring. Piers B, C and M serve Schengen flights, E, F, G and H mainly non-Schengen, and Pier D both on separate levels, which is what decides whether you face passport control. A flight that lands on the Polderbaan, whose nearest end is 5 km from the terminal building, can spend 10 to 20 minutes taxiing to its gate.

Terminals Schiphol is a single terminal with three departure halls (1, 2 and 3) connected airside and piers radiating from Schiphol Plaza, and each arriving flight is assigned a numbered arrival hall. Tell us your flight number when you book.

Questions

Amsterdam airport transfer questions

How long will my chauffeur wait at Schiphol?

30 minutes from your flight's actual arrival time, which we track. Non-EU passport queues at Schiphol were reported at one to two hours in August 2026, so keep your phone on after landing and contact the booking desk, open 24 hours, if you are held up. Waiting beyond 30 minutes can carry an additional charge, and a passenger who cannot be reached is treated as a no-show.

What happens if my flight is delayed?

Because the flight is tracked, the 30-minute wait counts from when it actually arrives, not from the timetable. If your flight is diverted or cancelled, contact the booking desk, which answers 24 hours a day.

Is the train not quicker into Amsterdam?

To Amsterdam Centraal, often yes: Schiphol says trains run eight times an hour and take about 14 to 17 minutes, usually faster than by road. A private transfer makes more sense when your address is on the canal ring or away from a station, when you have heavy luggage or a group, or when you are continuing by road to another Dutch city.

Do I have to go through passport control at Schiphol?

Only if you arrive from outside the Schengen area. Non-EU passport holders on a short stay register in the European Entry/Exit System, mandatory since 10 April 2026, at a kiosk or a Royal Netherlands Marechaussee desk; the registration is valid for up to three years or until the passport expires.

How do I know which arrival hall I will come out of?

Schiphol assigns each flight an arrival hall, shown with the baggage belt on the flight's page at schiphol.nl and in the Schiphol app. The booking desk tells you where to meet your chauffeur.

Is it harder to reach central Amsterdam on King's Day?

By road, yes. On King's Day (27 April, or the 26th when the 27th falls on a Sunday), the city's guidance is that the entire centre is closed to cars from 07:30, trams and buses serve only its outskirts, and most restrictions lift only late that night. If you land that day with a city-centre address, tell us when you book; the full quote, including any public holiday charge, comes before you pay.

How do I pay, and can I change or cancel?

Pay online by secure payment link or bank transfer. Your booking is confirmed once paid and the price is fixed from then on. Changes and cancellations are possible up to 48 hours before the flight, with any costs already incurred deducted.

Waiting time, changes, cancellations and refunds are set out in full in our Terms & Conditions.
