Lufthansa is in Terminal 1, and the new Terminal 3 on the south side took over every airline that used to fly from Terminal 2. When you land
Frankfurt is now a two-terminal airport, and the terminal on your ticket matters more than it used to. Terminal 1 is next to both railway stations. Terminal 3 lies south of it, on the south side of the airport, and has its own motorway link. This is what happens between touchdown and the kerb.
Check your terminal. Terminal 2 closed on 9 June 2026, and every airline that used it moved to Terminal 3. The airport lists Emirates, Qatar Airways and Gulf Air in Terminal 3, and Lufthansa checks in at Terminal 1, Hall A. Send us your flight number so we can track it. Keep your voucher to hand: it carries your chauffeur's name, vehicle and meeting point.
Flights from within the Schengen area usually have no passport check. On flights from outside it, non-EU visitors on short stays are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System, which takes fingerprints and a facial image. Frankfurt is adding self-service kiosks in stages and warns that waits may increase. EU, EEA and Swiss citizens aged 12 and over can use the EasyPASS gates with an electronic passport. US citizens can use them too, but only after registering for the EasyPASS-RTP programme.
In Terminal 1, baggage reclaim is on the ground-floor arrivals level, below the check-in floor. Terminal 1's Pier A-Plus alone is 800 metres long. In Terminal 3, Pier J, built for flights from outside Schengen, is 600 metres long and has moving walkways and an extra level for arriving passengers. Either way, expect a walk before you reach the belts.
Go to the meeting point on your voucher. If you land at a different terminal from the one on your booking, call the booking desk, which answers 24 hours a day. The free SkyLine links Terminals 1 and 3 in just under eight minutes from 4am to 11pm. From 10pm to 5am, shuttle buses run between the terminals' arrivals forecourts.
The airport sits beside the Frankfurter Kreuz, where the A3 and A5 meet. Terminal 3 has its own link to the A5 through the enlarged Zeppelinheim interchange. The city centre is about 12 km to the north-east, and Frankfurt Airport says a taxi to or from the city takes 20 to 30 minutes, depending on traffic.

Lufthansa's main hub and the sixth-busiest airport in Europe, with about 61.6 million passengers in 2024. It lies 12 km south-west of central Frankfurt, beside the Frankfurter Kreuz where the A3 and A5 motorways meet. It has an S-Bahn station beneath Terminal 1 and a separate long-distance station for ICE trains. Scheduled flights have been banned between 11pm and 5am since a 2011 court ruling.

No. Hahn Airport (HHN) was marketed for years as Frankfurt-Hahn and renamed simply Hahn Airport in 2023. It is in Rhineland-Palatinate, about 120 km by road from Frankfurt. Check the three-letter code on your ticket before you ask for a quote: FRA is Frankfurt Airport.
Sometimes. S-Bahn lines S8 and S9 run between the regional station beneath Terminal 1 and Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof in about 12 minutes, roughly every 10 minutes. If you land at Terminal 3, you first need the SkyLine, which takes around 10 to 15 minutes to reach the stations. A private transfer takes you and your luggage door to door, which helps most when you are going somewhere other than the main station.
Yes. Messe Frankfurt says the exhibition grounds are about 15 minutes from the airport by car, arriving at the City Entrance/Festhalle, Galleria or Portalhaus entrances. Tell us which entrance you need when you ask for a quote. For a fair day with several stops, an hourly chauffeur is an alternative to separate journeys.
