Hyderabad · HYD · Rajiv Gandhi International

Hyderabad airport transfer pre-booked and private.

A private car from Rajiv Gandhi International (HYD) to HITEC City, Gachibowli, Banjara Hills, Secunderabad or further, with your flight tracked and a full quote before you pay.

Nothing is charged until you accept the quote.

At a glance

What you get with a Hyderabad airport transfer

Rajiv Gandhi International sits at Shamshabad, about 25 km south of Hyderabad by the operator’s own count, and since November 2022 every flight, domestic or international, has used its one integrated terminal. No metro line reaches it yet, so the city is a drive away: the Outer Ring Road for HITEC City, Gachibowli and the Financial District, NH44 and the PV Narasimha Rao Expressway for Mehdipatnam and Banjara Hills, or the Srisailam Highway for the old city and Secunderabad. Universal Airport Transfer arranges a pre-booked private car for that drive. We track your flight, your chauffeur waits 30 minutes from its actual arrival time, and a full quote reaches you before you pay, usually within two hours.

  • Your chauffeur waits 30 minutes from your flight’s actual arrival time.
  • A full quote before you pay, usually within two hours, reflecting distance, vehicle class, add-ons and any late-night, public holiday or short-notice charges.
  • Pay online by secure payment link or bank transfer, and your booking is confirmed once paid. Outer Ring Road tolls on your route are either included in the quote or shown in it as an additional charge, and waiting beyond the included time may carry a charge.
  • Changes and cancellations up to 48 hours before your flight under the standard policy, less any costs already incurred; a few airports and services differ.
  • Any class, Economy, Business or First Class, can come as a sedan, SUV or van.
  • Domestic and international flights share one integrated terminal at RGIA, so a domestic arrival and an international departure are one level apart in the same building.

Ways from RGIA into Hyderabad

Every option starts from the same building, because RGIA has one terminal, and the right choice depends on your bags, your party and the hour. The bus and taxi rows follow the airport’s own descriptions, without fares; the last row is a pre-booked car for comparison.

Transport from Rajiv Gandhi International: bus and taxi boarding points as listed on the airport’s own website (checked 1 October 2026), with a pre-booked private car for comparison

The timetable on the airport’s website includes routes linking RGIA with HITEC City, Gachibowli and Secunderabad.

Pre-booked private carAt the kerb as standard, or with a name board in arrivals when Meet and greet is bookedA night arrival, a family with heavy bags, or a meeting straight after the flightYour flight is tracked, the 30-minute wait counts from when it actually arrives, and the full quote comes before you pay.

Boarding points have moved before: the airport says it has relocated the Pushpak stop to Pickup Point D, while its transport listings still give Pickup Point E, so follow the display boards on the day. For a pre-booked car, the booking desk tells you where your chauffeur will meet you.

Price

What your quote depends on

Every journey is quoted on its own rather than sold from a price list, so the figure you receive is for your booking. These are the things that move it. Nothing is charged until you accept the quote. Tolls, where they apply, are either included in it or shown in it as an additional charge, and heavy traffic does not change the quoted price.

Which part of Hyderabad you are going to From the terminal, the western IT districts are reached mostly on the Outer Ring Road, Banjara Hills and Mehdipatnam lie up NH44 and the PVNR Expressway, and Secunderabad sits beyond the old city to the north-east. Each is a different run, so the quote is worked out on your full address rather than the district.
Outer Ring Road tolls The ORR is a tolled, eight-lane road, and for the western IT districts it usually carries most of the journey. Where your route uses it, the toll is part of the quote or listed in it as an additional charge before you pay.
The hour you land or leave A late-night pickup, a public holiday or a request at short notice can each add a charge. Any that applies is listed in the quote you accept, before you pay.
Passengers, bags and vehicle type As a guide, a sedan takes about three passengers with two or three bags, an SUV about four with four or five, and a van five to seven with six to eight; the desk confirms the vehicle with the quote. Class is chosen separately: Economy, Business or First Class can each come in any of these vehicles.

When you land

Landing at Rajiv Gandhi International

One building does everything at RGIA: a T-shaped terminal of eight levels with two long piers, handling domestic and international flights alike. This is the sequence from the aircraft door to the car, and what changes if you come in from abroad.

  1. 01

    Before you fly

Send your flight number with the quote request; the quote cannot be made without it. If you hold a foreign passport or an OCI card, file the Bureau of Immigration’s e-Arrival card online in the 72 hours before you reach India: the paper card was withdrawn on 1 April 2026, and the FAQ below says where.

  2. 02

Off the aircraft and through immigration

Your aircraft parks at an aerobridge or at a remote stand, with a bus to the terminal. From an international flight you go first to the Bureau of Immigration counters, which queue Indian passports, foreign nationals and OCI cardholders separately; members of the Fast Track Immigration–Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP) can use the four e-gates at arrivals. Domestic passengers walk straight on to the belts.

  3. 03

    Belts and customs

Bags arrive on the terminal’s 15 reclaim belts: nine for domestic flights, five for international and one for out-of-gauge items. Screens show your belt, trolleys are free, and international passengers then choose the green or red customs channel.

  4. 04

    Meeting your chauffeur

Standard pickup is at the kerb, which the airport keeps for picking up and dropping off only. With Meet and greet, included with every First Class booking, your chauffeur waits with a name board in arrivals instead. The chauffeur’s name and contact details reach you before pickup, and the 30-minute wait starts from your flight’s actual arrival.

  5. 05

    On the way

The approach road feeds three main lines into the city. Westward, the Outer Ring Road runs round to Gachibowli and the Financial District; northward, NH44 reaches Aramghar, where the PV Narasimha Rao Expressway, an 11.6 km elevated road opened in 2009, carries you above the streets to Mehdipatnam; and the Srisailam Highway (NH765) heads north towards the old city, Nampally and Secunderabad. The hour decides how long any of them takes.

One terminal, and what to know around it

The integrated terminal Domestic and international flights, arrivals and departures, all in one building. A new east area opened in November 2023, and the operator now gives its capacity as 34 million passengers a year, rising to 40 million with operational adjustments.
Fast-track immigration for Indian and OCI travellers FTI-TTP is open to Indian passport holders and OCI cardholders: apply at ftittp.mha.gov.in, then give fingerprints and a facial image at an FRRO or at the programme’s counter at RGIA. The airport says registration may take up to a month and needs six months’ validity left on the passport, so enrol well before the trip.
Connecting on separate tickets A domestic arrival feeding an international departure, or the reverse, needs no car: the airport says to collect your bags, leave the arrival hall and go one level up. International ticket-holders are let into the terminal only three hours before departure, so a long gap means time landside, where the airport points passengers to Aeroplaza, sleeping pods at car park level and the Novotel.
Begumpet is not HYD Hyderabad’s old airport, inside the city at Begumpet, lost its scheduled flights the day RGIA opened in March 2008, so a ticket marked HYD means Shamshabad.

A delay is covered by flight tracking, since the wait counts from the actual arrival. A cancellation, a diversion or a move to the next day is different: it is generally treated as a no-show, subject to the service terms, so tell the booking desk as soon as your airline tells you.

Hyderabad and beyond

Where in Hyderabad you are going

Road distances from the terminal, from OpenStreetMap routing checked on 1 October 2026. We give no drive times, because on these roads the hour of day matters as much as the distance. Going on from your hotel to a second city later in the trip is booked as its own point-to-point run.

HITEC City and Madhapur

Cyber Towers is about 33 km from the terminal, and about 21 km of that is on the Outer Ring Road before the turn towards Gachibowli. For a day of meetings between offices here, the hourly chauffeur service keeps the car with you, with a two-hour minimum.

Gachibowli and the Financial District

The Financial District at Nanakramguda is about 30 km by road and Gachibowli about 32 km, both just off the western side of the ORR. Companies moving staff or visiting clients through RGIA regularly can apply for a corporate account, with corporate rates.

Banjara Hills and Jubilee Hills

Banjara Hills is about 28 km, by NH44, the Inner Ring Road and the PVNR Expressway towards Mehdipatnam, and Jubilee Hills lies a few kilometres further west. Both areas use numbered roads, so send the road number with the address.

Secunderabad

The twin city lies north-east of the centre, about 30 km by road from the terminal to Secunderabad railway station. It covers a wide area, including the cantonment, so give the full address rather than the district name.

Charminar and the old city

The closest of these areas to the airport, about 20 km by road, with Hyderabad Deccan station at Nampally about 24 km. Streets around the Charminar are narrow and busy, so a landmark or the hotel’s name helps as much as the street address.

Warangal and Vijayawada

Warangal is about 180 km away, mostly on NH163, and Vijayawada, in Andhra Pradesh, about 290 km, mostly on NH65. A run that long from the airport is quoted as one transfer, priced on the route and destination; with a car held by the hour, travel outside the city carries an additional charge.

HYD

Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (HYD)

The airport opened at Shamshabad, south of the city, on 23 March 2008, the same day scheduled flights left the old airport at Begumpet. GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited runs it, with the Airports Authority of India and the Telangana government as minority shareholders. It handled more than 30 million passengers in 2025–26, about 5.5 million of them on international flights, and its main runway is 4,260 m long, which the operator calls one of the longest in Asia.

Terminals One integrated terminal handles every flight, domestic and international, arriving and departing. International departures moved into it from a separate interim building on 28 November 2022, so a guide that sends you to a second terminal is out of date. There is no terminal to pick when you ask for a quote: send the flight number, which the quote needs in any case.

Questions

Hyderabad airport transfer questions

Does Hyderabad airport have separate domestic and international terminals?

No. Since 28 November 2022, when international departures left a separate interim building, every flight has used one integrated terminal, for arrivals and departures alike. If an older guide or map mentions a second terminal, it predates that move. Send your flight number with the quote request and the desk works out the rest.

How far is Hyderabad airport from HITEC City and Gachibowli?

By road, about 33 km to Cyber Towers in HITEC City, about 32 km to Gachibowli and about 30 km to the Financial District, going by OpenStreetMap routing in October 2026. Most of each journey is on the Outer Ring Road, a tolled eight-lane ring of 158 km around the city. Any toll on your route is either included in the quote or shown in it as an extra.

Is there a metro from Hyderabad airport to the city?

Not yet. The Telangana government’s Metro Phase II proposal, submitted to the central government, includes a 36.8 km airport corridor from Nagole to Shamshabad, and an earlier plan for a line from Raidurg was put on hold after the 2023 state election. Until a line opens, the choices all go by road: the Pushpak airport buses run by TGSRTC, taxis, app-based cabs or a pre-booked car.

Do I need an e-Arrival card to land in Hyderabad?

Yes, if you hold a foreign passport or an OCI card. India withdrew the paper arrival card on 1 April 2026, so file the e-Arrival card online within the 72 hours before you arrive, on boi.gov.in or indianvisaonline.gov.in, or in the Indian Visa Su-Swagatam app. It collects arrival information and is not a visa, and Indian passport holders do not file it. Check the Bureau of Immigration’s own page for anything particular to your passport or visa.

How long will my chauffeur wait at Hyderabad airport?

Thirty minutes, counted from your flight’s actual arrival time, which is tracked. Waiting beyond that can be charged under the local provider’s terms, and the desk tells you the policy and any charge before it is applied. Switch your phone on once you land: if the 30 minutes pass without you reaching the meeting point and the desk cannot reach you by phone or WhatsApp, the booking becomes a no-show.

Where do Uber and Ola pick up at Hyderabad airport?

In Car Park Zone D, where the airport gives each app its own bays: Uber at D1 and D2, Rapido at D3 and D4 and Ola at D6 and D7, according to the airport’s transport listings in October 2026. Live cab availability is shown on screens in the baggage claim area, so you can check before walking out. With a pre-booked car you skip the app altogether: your chauffeur’s name and contact details reach you before pickup, on WhatsApp or by email.

How early should I leave for a flight from Hyderabad airport?

The airport asks passengers to arrive at least three hours before an international departure and two hours before a domestic one, and it lets international ticket-holders into the terminal only three hours ahead. A departure pickup is timed back from your check-in cut-off, with the traffic and the terminal drop-off allowed for. At a hotel or home the chauffeur waits 15 minutes from the scheduled pickup time, so have your bags ready.

I fly into Hyderabad on one ticket and out on another. Do I need a transfer?

Usually not, because both flights use the same building. On separate tickets you collect your bags, leave the arrival hall and go one level up to departures to check in again, and from an international flight you clear immigration and customs first. A car only comes in if you leave the airport between flights, for a hotel or a meeting in the city.

Is Begumpet airport still used for flights?

Not for scheduled ones. Commercial flights moved from Begumpet to Rajiv Gandhi International on 23 March 2008, the day the new airport opened. Begumpet now handles flight training and private aircraft, houses an air force station and hosts the Wings India air show, so an airline ticket to Hyderabad lands at Shamshabad.
