International flights land at Terminal 2, where arrivals are on the ground level and departures on an upper level. Domestic flights by IndiGo and Akasa Air use Terminal 1, a short shuttle ride away. The steps below run from leaving the aircraft to the drive out of the airport, and they work the same way for a 3am landing from Dubai or Doha.
Terminal 2: international
Every scheduled international arrival and departure has used Terminal 2 since 12 September 2023, the international flights of IndiGo and Akasa Air included. Air India, Air India Express, Star Air and Alliance Air run their domestic flights from here as well. Arrivals are on the ground level, and the terminal has its own car park at that level.
Terminal 1: domestic
The original 2008 building, domestic only since international flights moved out. IndiGo and Akasa Air fly from here within India, but both airlines’ international flights use Terminal 2, so check the terminal on the ticket rather than going by the airline’s name.
Between the two terminals
About 600 m apart. The free shuttle runs every 10 minutes and takes about 10 minutes, from the inner lane at Terminal 1 departures beside the Relay shop and from pick-up points P16 and P17 on the Terminal 2 arrivals kerb. From an international flight to a domestic one, you clear immigration and customs first; a bag drop just past customs at Terminal 2 takes bags for a connecting flight.
Overnight arrivals from the Gulf
In early October 2026 the airport’s flight board showed a run of Gulf arrivals, from Doha, Dubai, Kuwait, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Bahrain, Jeddah and Muscat, landing between about 1.45am and 5am, all into Terminal 2. Timetables change with the season, so go by your own flight. At that hour the pickup still follows the tracked flight, exactly as it would at noon.
Overnight departures to the Gulf
Over the same nights, departures for Kuwait, Jeddah, Doha, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Muscat and Bahrain were timetabled between about 1.20am and 5.45am. Your pickup time is worked back from the airline’s check-in cut-off, with room left for traffic on the way north. The included wait at a home or hotel is 15 minutes from the scheduled pickup time, so bring the bags down before the car is due.
Not BLR: HAL Airport
Airlines left Bengaluru’s old airport, HAL, about 12 km south-east of the centre, in 2008. Hindustan Aeronautics now uses it for test flights alongside non-scheduled traffic such as VIP flights, so a ticket on a scheduled airline into Bengaluru means Kempegowda (BLR).
At Bengaluru the terminal follows the airline and, for IndiGo and Akasa Air, whether the flight is domestic or international. Check the terminal on your ticket or web check-in, look again a day or two before you travel, and tell the booking desk at once if it changes.
